Diocesan Newsletter

September 2022

  • Letter from Bishop Michael

Since our last newsletter I had continued travelling for Confirmations with our young people in the Southern Mackay Cluster and in the Valleys Region Parish of our Diocese.  I will be continuing with Confirmations in the Peak Downs and Blackwater in October when I return from leave.  This will finish my travels for Sacraments for this year.  My office is currently in the process of planning next year’s schedule for these already with our parish offices.

  • News from Woorabinda

I was quietly watching TV news last night when one of the Woori locals phoned me asking if I was “alright?” She alerted me to the danger that the old café house next to the church was on fire!

  • Catechism in the West

Preparing children on remote properties and in smaller towns for the sacraments has always been a challenge.  Different methods have been adopted over the years, often evolving as schooling methods changed

  • Rodeo at St Brendan’s College

St Brendan’s College recently wrapped up its annual SBC/9 Mile Investments Rodeo for 2022.  Once again, the event was a massive success and the College expressly thanks the wonderful backing from sponsors, parents and staff who without their support would not make this event possible.
