Formation
Formation in the Diocese
Go, therefore, and make disciples of all the nations, baptising them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you.
-Matthew 28:19
Formation is central to our mission in the Church to share the good news of salvation through Jesus Christ to the whole world and Our diocesan plan for 2023-2028 identifies as a priority that we would “Provide intentional and ongoing faith formation for all.” Formation also equips us to live out one of our other pastoral priorities that all the people of God would be co-responsible for the mission of the Church. This is a challenge to all of us to be leaders in the various ministries throughout our Church and to continually be open to engaging in formation so that we can be “authentic witnesses of the Christian life” (Evangelii Nuntiandi 41).
Below are some upcoming opportunities for formation that we encourage you to consider participating in. If you are interested in one of the below opportunities but cost is an issue, or if you have any ideas or suggestions for formation that you would like to receive then please get in touch at formation@rok.catholic.net.au
Mystery of Prayer Webinar
The Sisters of Mary Morning Star were founded in Spain and have had a presence in Brisbane since 2019. Sr Jone is originally from Lithuania but has been in Brisbane for the past 18 months. The sisters have a contemplative charism that calls them to a life of silent prayer centered on the mystery of the Eucharist. They seek to follow St John the Evangelist in order to take Mary into their home and with her, be united to Jesus offering His life to the Father. Their daily life consists of silent prayer, study of scripture, philosophy & theology, and manual work.
How to Hear from God Women’s Retreat
The Webinar will be held on Zoom from 7pm to 8:30pm on Tuesday the 9th of July. This will include time for group discussion and questions for Sr Jone. The Zoom details can be found on the registration page.
The Sisters of Mary Morning Star will also be running a retreat for women at St Patrick’s Church Calliope from 10am to 3pm on Saturday the 13th of July. This retreat will include lunch, adoration, reconciliation and Mass. For more information or to register, contact Laura Gunston at sosgladstone@rok.catholic.net.au
