Your Will is a gesture of the love you have for your family,
community and the Church.

After providing for your family, leaving a gift in your Will
is a significant way to support a cause that is meaningful to you
and a reflection of your gratitude, faith and values.

A message from our Bishop

Over these years, I have been privileged to work alongside you in the way Pope Francis called us to be; co-responsible for the mission of the Church. This has manifested itself through the marvelous outreach of our people through the Parish ministries, welfare ministries and other Diocesan ministries.

If you wish, you can assist and ensure these ministries’ legacy well into the future by remembering the Church and her mission when making your Will. Many people may not have previously considered such a possibility. I commend such consideration to your generosity.

Bishop Michael McCarthy

When you confirm a gift in your Will to a Parish or ministry in the Diocese of Rockhampton, you become a partner of The Society of St Joseph. It is our way, as a Diocese, to acknowledge one of the greatest commitments you can make to support the legacy of our faith in our Diocese.

The Society bears the name of St Joseph, our Diocesan Patron and the Patron of the Catholic Church, as he represents our Diocese and reflects well how our faith is ‘woven together and sustained by ordinary people, people often overlooked. People who do not appear in newspaper and magazine headlines, or on the latest television show, yet in these very days are surely shaping the decisive events of our history’.

Each of us can discover in Joseph – the man who goes unnoticed, a daily, discreet and hidden presence – an intercessor, a support and a guide in times of trouble. Saint Joseph reminds us that those who appear hidden or in the shadows can play an incomparable role in the history of salvation. A word of recognition and of gratitude is due to them all.

Pope Francis, Patris Corde

The Society of St Joseph honours this special commitment, acknowledging that a gift is often given from the proceeds of a lifetime of work. The Society of St Joseph enables us to give special recognition to those who, in a small, quiet way, contribute to the legacy of our Catholic Faith into the future. As a partner of the Society of St Joseph, you will be invited to receive a special blessing from the Bishop of Rockhampton at a Thanksgiving Mass, and you will be presented with a Certificate of Appreciation and a special lapel pin.

Our Bequest Emblem

Our Emblem was drawn from the inspiration of St. Joseph’s Cathedral, from its Eastern stained-glass window. The depiction of the Holy Spirit descending. This window sits directly above the Daily Mass Chapel. On a clear day, the sun shines straight through the dove, emanating the yellow rays of the sun as depicted on the Emblem.

The Paràclete [Holy Spirit] is the one who supports, who accompanies so that you don’t fall, who keeps you firm, who is close to you to support you. He is the Gift of God. “I will not leave you alone, I will send you a Paràclete who will support you and help you move forward, remember, discern, and grow.”

Pope Francis

Our emblem for the Society of St Joseph signifies how our partners mirror the heart and ministry of the Holy Spirit in their support and commitment to the future work of the Church.
