Sacramental Program.

Hudson Tait begins his journey in the sacramental program.

The Sacramental Program began on February 27th with approximately 35 children coming along to Sacred Heart Church at 3.30pm to be enrolled and registered for this year’s program. At the beginning of the evening Mass, Hudson Tait was greeted at the door of the church to be enrolled as a catechumen.  He then joined his other schoolmates in their preparation for the Sacraments of Initiation.  Fr Andrew spoke well to the children on the gospel message of knowing a tree by its fruit.  He used photos of trees with and without fruit, testing all our gardening knowledge.

The Program will culminate with their Celebration of First Eucharist and Confirmation in late July.

Catechesis of the Good Shepherd

These sessions will be held during Lent commencing on Saturday 5th March at Sacred Heart Church. The sessions will commence at 10am lasting approximately 1 hour, with meditations designed for 3 – 6 year olds. We are endeavouring to support your children in a mostly silent environment.

Season of Lent

Ash Wednesday began our Lenten journey on March 2nd with 7am Mass held at Mary Immaculate Church, Emu Park and 9am Mass at Sacred Heart Church, Yeppoon. Stations of the Cross will be prayed each Tuesday morning at 8am in Mary Immaculate Church, and 7pm Wednesday nights at Sacred Heart Church.

We had representatives from our schools join us for 7am Mass and they collected ashes to take back for their school liturgies.

Michele and Helen burnt blessed palms from last year ready for Ash Wednesday. Michele being ever ready on the bucket brigade!!

World Day of Prayer

World Day of Prayer was hosted this year by the Anglican Parish of Keppel, in Emu Park. We gathered on Saturday 5th March commencing at 9.30am. The service this year was prepared by women from England, Wales and Northern Ireland. The theme was “I know the plans I have for you”. Rhylla Webb was the guest speaker for the morning and she expanded on the Bible reading for the day which was Jeremiah 29: 1-14. Rhylla gave us a plenty to take home, ponder on and pray about. She concluded with – “Let us continue to follow the instruction in Jeremiah – to call upon God our Father and come and pray to Him, confident of his strength when we seek Him with all our heart”.

Special Celebrations.

We congratulated Kevin and Jenny Hogan for their 50th Wedding Anniversary which they celebrated on March 4th  and Fr Andrew prayed a beautiful blessing over them at Mass. We also congratulated Jan Jaeger for her 70th birthday to be held on March 10th.  We wish you God’s richest blessings for your special days.
