News from the Capricorn Coast
19 July, 2024Fr Matthew and Fr Peter attended the farewell of Sr Carmel Boyle pvbm & Sr Colleen Livermore rsm. They were farewelled on their retirement from 20 years of pastoral ministry to the Blackwater Parish. We thank these sisters for their generous service and dedication to God’s people. Fr Noel Milner kindly supplied Mass that weekend.
We shared coffee and a chat after a weekday Mass, which was held during the school holidays at Mary Immaculate Church. It was lovely to be able to attend a week day Mass which then allowed us to gather afterwards for a friendly catch up.
We congratulate Fr Peter Tonti as well, for celebrating 21 years of Ordination on 18th June.
We also congratulate Aurelia Acharya on receiving the sacraments of confirmation and First Communion. Fr Ashwin Acharya was sponsor for his niece’s confirmation and Aurelia’s grandmother Angela introduced her on the day and had been preparing her for this special day in her faith journey.
Rajat and Lauretta and family, have moved to Perth for work and we wish them all the very best in this endeavour.
The Challenge Cup was held at St Brendan’s College, Yeppoon. In beautiful weather, 32 netball teams and 28 rugby league teams from primary schools across the Diocese participated. Our thanks go to St Brendan’s for yet again being marvellous hosts. While across the school, there are normally about 1,000 people on campus, with the Cup this rose up, at times, to 3,000 with students, teachers and parents taking part in the Cup. Congratulations to all those who played and to all the teachers, coaches and organisers who make this day happen each year.
We had our monthly shared meal at Mary Immaculate Church on the 6th July. At this gathering we also celebrated one of those special birthdays – Happy 70th Birthday Michele.
Then we gathered once again for our monthly Meet in the Middle on Monday 8th July at the Waterline Cafe at 10am. Our next gathering will be on Monday the 12th August, and we would like you to join us if in the area.
On the 13th of July, participants from our Alpha groups came together to share their experiences and take the opportunity to reflect and pray about the next part of their journey. On this day we also celebrated the Baptism of Carmencita with her parents Lyn-Anne and Cody. Congratulation on joining God’s family and we pray you walk more closely in your relationship with God as you grow in your spiritual journey.
Last of all, we are busy preparing for 120 years celebrations, for Mary Immaculate Church of Emu Park!! We will let you know more in the next newsletter.
