Mass at Anakie for the Feast of Mary MacKillop
This month the Gemfields celebrated Mary McKillop Mass at the home of Jim and Anne Hatte, ‘Ramboda’. Ramboda has hosted many an occasion of significance including weddings, baptisms and church family group gatherings. In typical country style and hospitality, Jim and Anne followed the Mass with lunch.
Confirmation News
Finally, the class of 2020 celebrated their Confirmation with Frs Truc and Yon and Bishop Michael in May. Joined by the cohorts of 2021, celebrations were held over two nights, due to the large number of students and Covid restrictions. Bishop Michael reflected on the gifts of the Holy Spirit, encouraging all to deepen and strengthen the grace received at Baptism. The students are now receiving formation for First Holy Communion to be celebrated next month.
Silver Jubilee of Marriage for Freddie and Giovana Cerdan
Freddie and Giovana Cerdan celebrated their 25th wedding anniversary by renewing their vows surrounded by family and friends, on a beautiful Spring afternoon at St Patrick’s Church. Married in Peru, Giovana described the celebration as ‘emotional’, particularly as her children and friends surprised the couple, with a nephew playing the piano as Giovana entered a decorated church. Fr Yon expressed his delight at the engagement and participation of the younger members and how important it was that they witnessed this wonderful milestone.
Wedding of James Wood and Shona O’Keeffe.
Shona O’Keeffe and James Wood were married on the 10th July in a very joyful celebration led by Fr Yon at St Patrick’s Church.
Safeguarding Training
Volunteers and staff attended the Safeguarding Level 1 Training presided by Kate Moore and Jan Mussig.
