Chrism Mass – St Joseph’s Cathedral
Thursday 31st March 2022 10.00am
I write to invite you to celebrate with me the Mass of Chrism on Thursday 31 March 2022 at St Joseph’s Cathedral commencing at 10.00am. The Mass of Chrism is a very important Mass with the gathering of our Priests and our Diocesan family as we bless the Oils of Baptism and the Sick, and to consecrate the Oil of Chrism.
The Baptismal Oil is used to anoint those coming into the church as babies, young people and adults and the Oil of the Sick is for those who are sick, frail and ageing who are suffering sickness. The Oil of Chrism is used in Baptisms and Confirmations and also for the consecration of Churches.
I welcome you to join with us as the Diocese celebrates this very important event in the life of the Church.
