Success at Beef Week 2024

20 May, 2024

St Brendan’s and St Ursula’s Colleges had a successful Beef week 2024.

The St Brendan’s Cattle Club returned after spending 10 days onsite at Beef Week, putting in significant time and energy to ensure the College was represented at one of the biggest agricultural displays in the country. This success would not have been possible without the dedication and effort of our team of staff, families, and students.

They are extremely proud of the results and appreciate the hours of work that went on behind the scenes with the Cattle Club.
֍ Blake Killey won the U17 Junior Parading against a field of over 100 students from schools nationwide!
֍ Sam Kingston achieved 4th in the Commercial Cattle Judging, and 1st in the 17 Years Junior Stud Judging against a huge field of competitors!
֍ In the U15 Junior Parading class, in conjunction with St Ursula’s, they took out 1st, 3rd, 4th, and 5th places! Special shoutout to Ben Kingston for securing 3rd Place! The St Ursula’s students secured 1st 4th and 5th places.
֍ In the 12 & 13-year age group, Lawson Sedgeman and Jarrod Mahoney received 4th and 5th place respectively for Junior Parading and Junior Judging.
֍ St Brendan’s College Steers, SBC Brindle and SBC Bonus, placed 4th & 5th in the Junior Led milk tooth steers, with a live weight of 350-439kg class.

A special thank you to Trevor Dunne for generously allowing the boys to camp on his property. We also give a special thank you to Mr Oram for affording the boys this unique experience.

As part of Beef Week activities, students also attended a Careers Symposium. With several of the St Ursula’s girls interested in a career in the Agricultural industry, they found the symposium to be very informative.
