On Tuesday 26 April, St Ursula’s College, Yeppoon, acknowledged the 238th anniversary of the death of Nano Nagle, Foundress of the Presentation of the Blessed Virgin Mary (PBVM) Order.

Staff and students gathered in the College’s Ballygriffin Cultural Centre and focussed on Nano as a woman of faith, justice, and compassion.

Known as ‘the lady of the lantern’ due to her efforts to seek out those in need even late at night, Nano’s legacy and charism was celebrated through reflection and prayer.

Encouraged to ‘take up their lanterns’ and be like Nano, students and staff made paper lanterns during First Break, which are proudly displayed in the College Library.
