Couples for Christ in Rockhampton

The first Household meeting of Couples for Christ Rockhampton was held on 14th April 2024 at the Cathedral Centre. Filomeno ‘Yoyong’ Gonzales chaired the meeting. He expounded on the role of Couples for Christ as a Lay group recognized by the Vatican in 1981, to “bring the Church to the Homes” and “bring the Church to the Poor.” Its pillars include, Evangelization and Mission, Pastoral Support, Family Ministries, Social Ministries, Education through ANCOP (Answering the Cry of the Poor), Pro-life and Special Ministries.

The members take turn in hosting Household meetings in their respective homes, which, literally, brings the Church to the Homes. The meeting follows certain processes:   A-Acclamation, C-Contrition, T-Thanksgiving and S- Supplication, or A-C-T-S.

The first formal Household meeting applying A-C-T-S will start from the weekend of 21st April.

Who is your God?

It was chance to be invited to the meeting of Mercy Associates, and participate in the discussion led by Sister Beryl Amadee of the Sisters of Mercy in Rockhampton.

Sister Beryl led the opening prayers and reflection on WHO IS YOUR GOD? The discussions focused on various scriptures that answer the question who our God is, and how God manifests in our own lives. The inspiring talk encouraged everyone to share their insights on the topic.

Mercy Associates are lay women and men whose lives are inspired by the Mercy Charism of Catherine McCauley, who established the Sisters of Mercy in 1831. There are Mercy Associates in Australia, Papua New Guinea and Timor Leste. The Mercy Associates in Rockhampton meet every other month and discuss topics that enhance the mercy values of compassion, justice, hospitality and hope.  For more information, you can call 0408 124 404.
