Youth For Christ Camp Mackay

On the 13th to 15th of September Youth for Christ held its entry camp at Rowallan Park. The camp had the theme ‘Fly High with the Holy Spirit’. There were 30 high schoolers at the camp, with many of them also helping to lead the camp by giving talks, running activities and leading music. The aim of the camp is to bring these youth to Christ through fun, friendship, freedom and faith.
There was a wonderful, positive vibe at the camp, with lots of laughter and fun. Many good holy friendships were begun or strengthened by being able to share this time together. Participants also heard some great messages, about God’s loving plans for us, the message of Jesus and what he did for us, and the role of the Holy Spirit in our lives.
Participants were also invited to join YFC and become part of a small group that continues to meet regularly after the camp to share life, grow together and support each other in faith.
The camp was organised and run by Couples for Christ Mackay, and the families from the CFC community did an amazing job of catering all of the meals and supporting the whole event.
Fr Raju made two trips out to the camp, to offer the sacrament of reconciliation on the Saturday and to celebrate a final Mass on the Sunday.
It was inspiring to see so many young people from Mackay sharing and celebrating their Catholic faith and also growing in their gifts in ministering to others, as these young people will be the future leaders of our Church.
