Recommencement of Children’s liturgy at St Peter Chanel church Tannum Sands:

Terri and Sue delivered a royal start to the return of the children’s liturgy at Tannum Sands on the Feast of Christ the King. The children learned about the attributes of being royal like Christ the King, loving, hopeful, kind and faithful and servant to all. They wore their crowns with pride.

Parish Pastoral council Gladstone renewal program:

After some community awareness building at masses in September, the council welcomed 8 new members to the parish pastoral council for 2022. The response of the congregation in recommending others was enormous and whist 60 candidates were recommended, 23 attended the information and discernment evening. Here they explored the roles of PPC members and the council’s mission. It was a successful campaign to involve other members of the community we would otherwise not be in touch with.

Soul Survivor SOSO youth event retreat :

After a year of running SOS YOUTH EVENTS, we culminated with a Soul Survivor retreat with high school aged young people. The spiritual and physical muscles were tested and tried. Boot camp, formation sessions, night fire, kayaking, soccer were some of the challenges the young people were asked to take. With 5 leaders and 23 young people, (senior high schoolers on sat night BBQ and fire) the weekend was memorable to say the least. Families of the participants attended mass at end of weekend led by Fr Andrew, Fr Ashwin and the young people themselves. The families were commissioned to continue the journey with them using the strategies to not only survive but thrive in the world with faith. It will become an annual event for our young people.

Star of the Sea Christmas celebration organised by the women of worth ministry

A beautiful morning with food, games for young and old and music by our resident Ukulele group was held in late November. It was a great way to bring parishioners together and involve the various ministries across the parish.
