News from Blackwater

08 June, 2022

Sunday morning 29th of May saw another successful “Women’s breakfast” held in Blackwater. The event was held in our lovely church hall, behind the church. There were 11 ladies in attendance including the guest speaker Mrs. Catherine Dunbar. A wonderful breakfast was enjoyed, after Grace, including bacon, scrambled eggs, tomatoes, potato gems and a variety of fruit and of course toast. Beverages included water, juice, coffee and tea. The customary introductions were conveyed  and chat followed as everyone enjoyed their breakfast.

After breakfast Sr Carmel introduced Mrs. Catherine Dunbar who Sr Carmel had taught in year 7. It was a very interesting talk and sharing of a lifetime of experiences including her schooling, primary, secondary, tertiary. Catherine shared her movement around for her career in teaching, her meeting and eventual marriage to her husband. She told of the stories of her children and their chosen careers. Catherine is still in the workforce and has led a very interesting and diverse work life. She was very easy to listen to and gave us a sheet to write on and ponder our own lives, which led to memories for many.

After the talk many stayed behind to chat and catch up. It was a wonderful morning, of food, fun, chat, and sharing.
