Bishop Michael’s Easter Message

22 March, 2024

The Easter Sunday Gospel of Jesus speaks to a friend, Mary of Magdala, and brings hope to those who had thought all was lost. In the recognition of the Risen Christ, her pain of loss was turned into joy.

This is the Risen Christ who calls all of us by name. While we may not recognise immediately His presence, He is there with us and invites us with Him to turn our pain and sorrow into joy.

This year, we have much to be concerned about and hope that the Risen Christ will turn sorrow into joy. We ask Him to calm the hearts of the leaders in the Middle East and in Eastern Europe. These wars have gone on too long and there are people suffering in Palestine and Ukraine.

Around the Diocese, our prayers are with you as your own challenges mount.

May the blessings of the Risen Christ be with you and your families this Easter, and may you experience the gift of hope that brings joy from Him.
