Bishop Brian Heenan’s Jubilee and celebration with the clergy and religious

18 November, 2021

On the 4th November, Bishop Brian Heenan led the Eucharist in the Cathedral in recognition of the 30th Jubilee of his ordination as Bishop.  Many friends gathered to share their joy, offer their thanks and show signs of their friendship with him who so generously served the diocese over the years.  Bishop Michael and many priests of the diocese concelebrated with him.

Later that morning, at the invitation of Bishop Michael, many of the clergy and religious from across the diocese gathered to recognise those who had celebrated Jubilees in the past two years.  Finally, Mgr John Grace was able to join in a Jubilee celebration within his own diocese as every other attempt had been thwarted by Covid.  He brought with him from the seminary the two men who are candidates from our diocese.

Given the far flung nature of our diocese, it is not often that the clergy and religious can get together in this way and enjoy praying together, sharing a meal and simply enjoying each other’s company.  It was a delightful occasion and we thank Bishop Michael for making it possible….and we look forward to next year!
