17 October, 2023
Recently appointed Mercy International Association CEO Sr Patricia O’Donovan rsm (far left) entertains visiting Principals John Ballinger-Oches, Janelle Agius and Mark Green at Catherine McAuley’s first House of Mercy in Dublin during the recent school holidays.

Prayer in the same chapel in which Venerable Catherine McAuley also worshipped, was the highlight of a recent sabbatical visit to Ireland for three Principals from the diocese during the recent school holidays.

John Ballinger-Oches (Principal St Anne’s Catholic Primary School, Sarina), Janelle Agius (Principal St Patrick’s College, Mackay) and Mark Green (Principal Marist College, Emerald) visited Catherine’s House in Baggot Street, Dublin, the first house of Mercy built in 1824 by Catherine McAuley, founder of the Sisters of Mercy.

The group were treated to a private tour and were delighted to meet newly appointed Mercy International Association Chief Executive Officer, Sr Patricia O’Donovan rsm, a role previously held by Sr Berneice Loch rsm from Rockhampton.

The two week sabbatical also included visits to schools in Ireland and Scotland.
