News from the Capricorn Coast

22 August, 2023

July 28th  was a sad day, as we came together to celebrate Mass, and shed a few tears as we farewelled our Parish Secretary – Vanessa Ramswarup. Fr Matthew and John Halberstater said a few words in thanking Vanessa for her time spent in our Parish. We gathered after Mass to share morning tea and present gifts to this lovely lady. We wish Vanessa all the best in her new position as Community Engagement Manager for the Catholic Diocese of Rockhampton.

I would like to take this opportunity to welcome our new Parish Secretary – Angela Wilczek.  I pray you enjoy working with us all in this wonderful Parish and I look forward to meeting you in the near future.

The Year 4 students from Sacred Heart Primary School have recently been working on artworks depicting the Holy Trinity. These wonderful artworks have been displayed in the Sacred Heart meeting room, and parishioners have been invited to have a look as they are amazing!!

The Year 1 students from St Benedict’s came along to celebrate Mass, talk to parishioners about their roles inside and outside the church, and share morning tea.  They also delighted the parishioners with some entertainment. Thank you Year 1’s.

Our monthly “Meet in the Middle” at the Waterline Cafe, was another delightful morning surrounded by God’s beautiful creation.

The Assumption of Mary Mass for Mary Immaculate was attended by approximately 40 parishioners and we were lucky enough to have Mary Loch play some beautiful hymns to our mother Mary.  We then headed to a nearby cafe for some much loved socialising.

Mary Immaculate Church has now got two more talented musicians leading us in song on the electric piano – Sr Kym Harris and Loretta Thwaite, along with our current organist Mary Loch. We thank you all for enriching our worship to our amazing God.
