Bishop’s Easter Message 2025
15 April, 2025
Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ
I welcome you in your parish communities to celebrate the Easter ceremonies.
This is an extraordinary time in which we reflect together on the mystery of the Passion of our Lord Jesus Christ. We begin with Holy Thursday, where we celebrate the Mass of the Lord’s Supper. Gathered around the Eucharistic table we remember the night before Jesus died, where he sat at table with his disciples. We remember his crucifixion and his journey through the streets of Jerusalem, and then to Easter Saturday night, where we celebrate his resurrection, the one who gave us new life.
During the Easter ceremonies we also welcome many people who have been journeying with us throughout the Diocese in our parishes, as they celebrate Baptism, Confirmation and Eucharist. Please welcome our new people as they join us on Holy Saturday night.
May God’s special blessing come upon you during this Easter season and may the Risen Christ walk with each one of you.
I also express my thanks to you all for your generous support of the recent Central West flood appeal. I do appreciate your support, as do those who will be assisted through your help. The funds are filtering in from our parishes and are being forwarded to the local St Vincent de Paul conference.
Yours sincerely
Most Rev Michael McCarthy
Bishop of Rockhampton
