Bishop Michael McCarthy’s Correspondence on Latest COVID Threat in Queensland

08 January, 2021

Dear Father, Sister, Director and all employees of the Diocese,

Queensland Health this morning has issued a directive that all residents of the greater Brisbane area, including Moreton, Ipswich, Redlands and Logan will be required to stay home this weekend from 6pm tonight.  The area covered is from Caboolture in the north to Ipswich in the west and Beenleigh in the south.

Queensland Health has also asked anyone who has visited these areas since January 2, but are now elsewhere in the state, to self-isolate for three days.

I ask everyone – priests, sisters, employees and volunteers – to all follow this directive.  That is, to self-isolate immediately if you have been in these areas.

As has been the case, if you have any symptoms please get a COVID test.

Regards

Bishop Michael
