Safeguarding Audit of Diocese Shows Progress
08 April, 2020Since August last year the safeguarding processes of the Diocese have been undergoing review to check our compliance with the National Catholic Safeguarding Standards.
The Professional Standards and Safeguarding Office coordinated the Diocesan response, in conjunction with input from the Diocesan Office, Parish Communities, Catholic Education and Centacare.
The Diocese, under the leadership of Bishop Michael McCarthy, is absolutely committed to building safe cultures and environments for children and vulnerable adults in our communities. As the first external audit undertaken on the processes the Diocese has been implementing over a number of years, it has shown we are well positioned to meet the requirements of the National Standards and are ensuring that safeguarding is fully integrated into the life of the local Church.
