Assembly - The People
Mr Shane Dwyer will be the Facilitator for our Assembly. He is currently the Director of the National Centre for Evangelisation. Shane has experience in the creation of adult faith formation resources, producing and delivering theological courses, the provision of faith formation seminars, spiritual direction and retreat leadership.
Ms Joy Philippi has been appointed this year by Bishop Michael to assist him in his pastoral projects and planning for the Diocese. Joy brings to the role many years experience in Youth Ministry at Parish and Diocesan level and has been working in Campus Ministry with Emmaus College, Rockhampton for the last 14 years. She has worked locally to bring the Diocesan Assembly together and will continue to work with the outcomes in the development of our Diocesan Pastoral Plan.
Plenary Council Facilitator
Ms Lana Turvey-Collins is the Facilitator of the Church’s historic Plenary Council 2020, which is the national conversation about the future of the Catholic Church in Australia. She has extensive experience in sales and training, has been the Director of Catholic Mission in the Sydney Archdiocese, worked as a Project Officer and International Liaison for the Catholic Bishops of Zambia, and done further formation and training for Catholic sector organisations.
170 delegates will be attending the Diocesan Assembly, representing people from all across our Diocese. These were people who were involved in one or both of the listening sessions held by Bishop Michael across the Diocese over the last two years, so they were involved in the local conversations and sessions that have helped to develop the themes we will be addressing at the Diocesan Assembly. This previous knowledge will help them to build on these themes to take them to the next level. They come from across the Diocese not as representatives just of their own area, but as representatives of the whole Diocese, using their local knowledge and their skills to help plan our way forward.
