St Ursula’s College Welcome Mass for 2025

14 February, 2025
Year 12 Student Leaders presented their inaugural Sisterhood Statement to College Principal, Mrs Deborah Ryan.

St Ursula’s College, Yeppoon, introduced its theme for 2025, Guided by Faith, Building Hope and Love, during the official Welcome Mass on Thursday 13 February. Led by Capricorn Coast Parish Priest, Fr Stephen Hanly, and held in the College’s Ballygriffin Cultural Centre, the Welcome Mass was a vibrant celebration for students and staff. St Ursula’s College Captains, Zsa Zsa and Grace, asked students “to trust, hope, and believe in possibilities beyond what we can see. [Faith in God] is the voice that encourages us when we face challenges, the light that guides us through uncertainty, and the strength that propels us toward our goals”.

All Year 7s and new students to the College were commissioned with the gift of lanterns, an enduring symbol of the light that Nano Nagle – Founder of the Presentation Order – shone for those on the margins of society, hundreds of years ago in Ireland. As a College established by the Presentation Sisters, St Ursula’s is deeply committed to continuing the legacy and charism of Nano Nagle.

After the conclusion of Mass, Year 12 Student Leaders presented their inaugural Sisterhood Statement to College Principal, Mrs Deborah Ryan. Signed by all members of the Year 12 cohort, the statement affirms the students’ commitment to the St Ursula’s College sisterhood, with a focus on community, compassion, and communication.
