Commissioning of Central West Regional Pastoral Council

On Sunday 8th September members of the incoming Regional Pastoral Council gathered in Barcaldine for a Commissioning Mass and Reflection Day. Thanks to the efforts of Fr Bang, the RPC has been reformed following a two year hiatus. It was a delight to see the families of three travelling members also attend the Commissioning Mass, showing their support for the role their loved one is undertaking.

During Mass, the incoming members were asked to pledge their commitment to the role, were prayed over by the community, commissioned, and gifted with a bible. Fr Bang urged members to make daily prayer and scripture a part of their lives.

Following a scrumptious morning tea hosted by the Barcaldine Parish, the newly commissioned members moved to the school for their Reflection Day. Topics covered included the role of the RPC, the history of the SVDs, an introduction to Laudato Si, consideration of the current position of the Cluster and the change of mindset required to obtain growth. They also looked at the Diocesan Pastoral Plan and chose a priority for 2025. The strategies for implementing this priority will be further investigated at their first meeting, to be held via Zoom later in the year.
