In 2024 the Central West Parishes reminded the public that Jesus is the reason for the Christmas season with some stunning displays. Fr Bang purchased thousands of Christmas lights and spent many hours decorating the Catholic Churches in Longreach, Blackall and Barcaldine. In Longreach and Aramac, large banners depicting the nativity were hung for maximum street exposure. These displays not only buoyed the spirits of local parishioners, who were all in awe of Fr Bang’s enthusiasm, initiative and dedication, but also highlighted to the wider community that our Churches are still alive and ‘happening’. The displays were a way of giving back to the community while also highlighting the importance of the true meaning of Christmas.
