News from Springsure
26 April, 2025
The community of Our Lady of the Sacred Heart Parish hosted Springsure’s annual ecumenical service on Good Friday. Many of our parishioners joined with those of other Faiths in our own Way of the Cross. Our walk began fittingly at the Labyrinth in the grounds of Our Lady of the Sacred Heart Catholic School before stopping and reflecting three times, signifying the three falls of Jesus. Each attendee was given a palm cross on which to reflect during the walk. These crosses were then placed at the foot of the larger cross inside the church as a form of veneration. Our service continued with input from each faith community. Fr Francois’ reflection challenged us to acknowledge the truth and beauty of the cross.
Fr Francois also delivered an address and prayer to our wider community during this year’s ANZAC Day Dawn Service. In his address, Fr Francois spoke of the wonderful peace and freedom we enjoy in Australia due to the sacrifices made by those who have served and continue to serve in our Defence Forces.
All roads lead to Springsure on Sunday, 1st June when we will celebrate 100 years as a parish. Please see the flyer for details – it would be wonderful to have former parishioners join our current ones on that day to celebrate and give thanks.
