News from Springsure

19 November, 2024

In recent months, the community of Our Lady of the Sacred Heart Parish has enjoyed celebrating with and learning from two different SVD priests while Fr Truc is overseas on study leave.
Firstly, Fr Manh Le SVD shared his many and varied experiences from both the Amazon and Palm Island with us, engaging us with his humour and insights. His visits to Our Lady of the Sacred Heart Catholic School were particularly welcomed.
Fr Joseph Reddy SVD is currently assisting Fr Francois and led us in the celebration of our annual Multicultural Mass on Sunday 27th October. Fr Joseph is normally based in Townsville but has enjoyed the rural nature of his stay, including being overawed (as many of us are) at the majesty of Carnarvon Gorge.
During the Multicultural Mass, we celebrated and prayed in seven different languages – quite something for our small community. The celebration continued with a shared meal, also witnessing to the many cultures – and great cooks – in our community.
We are currently preparing for our annual OLSH Community Christmas Fete on 8th November with a variety of market stalls, an inflatable obstacle course and a bucking bull for the children, the ubiquitous ham wheel, multi-draw raffle and this year, a special lucky door prize to be won. All the fun of the fair!
