The Mackay Catholic Dinner Club Reflection

At our August dinner, the Reflection below was read.

A Reflection on, ‘Living Wisely and Well’. Job said “Wisdom belongs to the aged, and understanding to the old’. An elderly lady had three secrets to a better life.

  1. Time is precious don’t waste it. Her husband had died and when she witnessed friends arguing, she realised bickering won’t matter when your loved one is gone. Do everything you can to live in harmony and show your love to each other for your time together is never enough.
  2. Life is making memories, make good ones. She thanks God for the unforgettable moments like that last parting kiss. So create memories – not regrets.
  3. It’s not what happens, but how you respond that counts. Every day holds new challenges that test our love and resolve. Through Christ, every test is an occasion for growth. Try to handle life’s unpleasant events with an attitude to be able to say, “I thank You God for that experience, it helped me to grow.” These three secrets will help you live wisely and well. Amen.
