News from Gladstone

January saw Gladstone parish send its largest ever contingent to the Ignite Summer Camp. 19 of our young people plus Fr Andrew joined our diocesan group to travel to Mapleton for three and a half days of games, music, prayer and formation. There was great feedback from our young parishioners, some of whom have been attending the camp for 5 years in a row!
After Summer Camp, Fr Andrew travelled on to assist at NET training in Peregian for a week. It was an extra special opportunity this year as we have one of our very own – Elizabeth Ariens – on mission with NET. Teams were recently announced and Elizabeth has been appointed to the Maroochydore team. She has had great support both prayerfully and financially in our parish and we wish her every blessing for the year ahead.
On 5th February some of the men of our parish hosted a fish supper for the widows and widowers of the parish. The meal was absolutely amazing, thanks to the beautiful coral trout provided by our own super-fisherman, Tony Heugh and his group of helpers. The men of the parish served as cooks, waiters and dish-washers and one attendee was even heard to suggest they could open their own restaurant! It was a wonderful night of fellowship, as well as fond memories and prayers for beloved spouses who had passed away.
