Macadamia Tree for Shalom College

16 September, 2021
Simon Andreoli presents the macadamia tree to Walsh House Captain James Waters and College Captain Brigette McMahon

Recently, Simon Andreoli from Marquis Macadamias visited Shalom College to donate a Macadamia Nut Tree, known as Macadamia tetraphylla or “Bush Nut” in honour of World Macadamia Nut Day. Helping to preserve one of Australia’s threatened species, Shalom College was one of six schools in the Bundaberg region chosen by Marquis Macadamias to be given one of these wild Macadamia Trees to plant on the grounds.

Accepting the tree from Simon, it was a great opportunity for two Shalom students, College Captain Brigette McMahon and Walsh House Captain James Waters, to learn more about the successful Macadamia Nut industry in Bundaberg and the importance of helping to protect these wild trees. We thank Marquis Macadamias for the donation of this native tree and we look forward to seeing it grow throughout the years at the College.
