Introducing our Caritas Representative: Angela Wilczek
25 March, 2024As we come to the end of Lent and the annual appeal for Project Compassion, it is a good time to introduce the Diocesan Caritas Representative, Angela Wilczek.
Angela is well known in the Capricorn Parish where she has been Parish Secretary for a few years.
For over 20 years she worked as a Podiatrist in both the public and private sectors as well as lecturing at CQU. Like many women, the demands of her family led to a change in career and she began work in the library at Sacred Heart School, Yeppoon.
Her husband is of Polish background and she found herself intrigued by the customs by which the Poles maintain their faith. She asked questions and this led to her joining the RCIA program in the parish and becoming a Catholic at the Easter Vigil a few years ago.
Angela has been inspired by the ethos of Caritas as it listens and responds to the ‘Cry of the Poor’. In recent years Caritas has become more explicit in its care for the environment, ensuring that all its projects are driven by the principle of Laudate Si.
Angela’s role is primarily to provide education to the schools and parishes on the work of Caritas and to help us to appreciate the extraordinary work our Church does in helping those on the margins.
