Future farmers taste a sample of Central Queensland’s Agricultural Excellence

17 September, 2024

The Cathedral College (TCC) AgConnect students have gained a firsthand look at the Rockhampton region’s thriving agricultural sector visiting several successful producers giving students a new appreciation, understanding and knowledge of different sustainable practices and how they are applied across the industry.

The students visited Rural Funds Management’s Riverton Macadamias, Teys Australia, Dynamic Eggs, Cap Coast Vegies, and High Valley Dawn organic farm.

TCC AgConnect Coordinator Mrs. Sarah Coombs praised the local producers’ engagement and the students’ enthusiasm.

“There is such a vibrant community of agricultural providers here in CQ, and it’s a real eye-opener for many of our students to see how much the area contributes to our food supply,” she said.

These immersive experiences not only educated the students about agricultural practices but demonstrated what a future in the industry looks like and how they can play a part in continuing Central Queensland’s agricultural excellence.

TCC AgConnect is a popular co-curricular program open to all students and complements Agricultural studies.
