CatholicCare Central Queensland Celebrates 50 Years
18 November, 20242024 marks an extraordinary milestone for CatholicCare Central Queensland. It marks the social service agency’s 50th anniversary of serving our community.
Established in 1974 by forward-thinking founders, Sister Anne-Marie Kinnane and Father Frank Gilbert, CatholicCare provides an incredible range of valuable and far-reaching services across the Diocese of Rockhampton.
From in-home aged care and disability support to family relationship services; counselling and psychology to domestic and family violence response, CatholicCare continues to uphold Sister Anne-Marie’s and Father Frank’s legacy by helping every person in their time of need.
Celebrations for CatholicCare’s 50th anniversary have been year-round, with the CatholicCare team, in typical caring fashion, organising special activities centred around the themes of Celebrating, Listening and Giving. Blood donation drives, charity fundraisers, awareness campaigns and connection initiatives have seen the CatholicCare team mark their very special milestone in the best way they know how: by embracing the care and connection that makes them who they are.
To round out their year of celebration, CatholicCare have been honoured to host staff and invited guests at special dinner events across their major service locations of Mackay, Bundaberg, and Rockhampton.
While the Rockhampton event is yet to be held at the time of writing (taking place on Saturday 23rd November), the Mackay and Bundaberg celebrations have been wonderful evenings full of reflection, recognition, and pride. Led by CatholicCare Chief Executive Officer, Robert Sims, each occasion has been blessed by the presence and contribution of Bishop Michael McCarthy, as well as members of the CatholicCare Board.
During these special events, many staff members have been recognised for their dedicated service to CatholicCare and its clients throughout the years, with length of service awards reaching up to an astounding 30 years for some! With people this committed, it is no wonder CatholicCare has been a pillar of our diocesan community for many decades.
A heartfelt congratulations to CatholicCare on this marvellous achievement. Thank you for the unwavering care, compassion, and connection you deliver to and within our communities each and every day.
