Catholic Schools Netball Meet at The Cathedral College

25 April, 2025

The Cathedral College (TCC) hosted a pre-season practice round for the top Netball teams from the Catholic Secondary Schools in the Rockhampton Region.

Event coordinator and TCC Sports Academy Director Anna Young said the carnival was a great success giving teams a similar experience as those in South East Queensland preparing for state-wide competitions.  “Players gained experience and worked through strategies and connections simulating what happens down south ahead of the season start,” she said.

Teams from The Cathedral College Rockhampton, Emmaus Rockhampton, Chanel Gladstone, Marist Emerald and St Ursula’s Yeppoon converged on the Mercy Centre and are looking towards the Queensland Independent Secondary Schools Netball Carnival, Vicki Wilson Cup as well as their local competition.

“There was a wonderful atmosphere with supporters from all schools encouraging players,” said Anna Young.  “We also welcomed the Chanel’s Boys team who were great to see in action. On the strength of this year’s event, the Catholic Schools Netball Meet is scheduled again for next year.”
