A call from Vinnies for your support over Christmas.
16 November, 2023Traditionally, Christmas is a time of celebration. We, as Catholics, recognise it as the commemoration of the birth of Jesus. Over this period, we join with family and friends and experience the joy of exchanging gifts and sharing Christmas treats and eating together at the Christmas table.
However, for a growing number of families in our community, the on-going cost-of-living crisis – the stresses of making ends meet with rising fuel, power and food prices and the staggering increases in mortgages and rental costs – make it impossible to provide the basic necessities. A happy Christmas full of cheer seems very far away. There is little to celebrate.
Your local St. Vincent de Paul Conference members ask for your help so that we can provide some Christmas joy for those who are struggling.
Your donations of non-perishable food and Christmas treats will be gratefully received.
Baskets are available in the Churches and there are envelopes for monetary donations. We ask that if you donate gifts, you do not wrap them. We need to see for which age/gender the gifts would be appropriate as a part of hampers for individual families.
Please help us to bring joy and some festive spirit to families and individuals who need extra support at this time. Then we can all enjoy a happy Christmas.
